The 17 January 2018 Changes to Lists of Eligible Skilled Occupations

On 17 January 2018 the Australian Government released another set of important changes to the lists of eligible skilled occupations for Australia’s skilled visa programs.

The following changes have already taken effect:

  • three occupations were added to the lists of eligible skilled occupations (Property Manager, Psychotherapist, Real Estate Representative);
  • three occupations were moved between the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL) and the Short-term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL) (Horse Breeder, Management Consultant); and
  • two occupations were removed from the lists of eligible skilled occupations (Building Associate, Hair or Beauty Salon Manager).

In addition, changes to six occupational caveats have been made.

According to the Department these changes will only impact applications lodged on or after 17 January 2018. Applications lodged before 17 January will not be impacted.
